Remote Learning

Learning Together, Wherever We Are

At North Cadbury Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child continues to learn, flourish and feel connected to our school community, whether learning takes place in the classroom or at home. Our approach to remote learning reflects our vision of being the best we can be through our FAITH values, ensuring pupils remain engaged, supported and inspired throughout any period of absence from school.

Our Commitment

We aim to provide high-quality remote education that enables pupils to continue making progress and maintain a strong connection with their class and school community. Learning will be carefully planned to reflect the curriculum being taught in school, helping children stay on track with their learning journey.

Remote Learning Provision

Depending on the nature and length of absence, pupils may be provided with:

  • English, mathematics and wider curriculum activities linked to current learning
  • Carefully planned learning resources and assignments
  • Access to online learning platforms and educational websites
  • Reading activities and opportunities to practise key skills
  • Teacher guidance, explanations and feedback where appropriate
  • Additional support for pupils with specific learning needs

All learning will be age-appropriate and designed to help pupils continue developing their knowledge, skills and understanding.

Expectations for Pupils

We encourage pupils to:

  • Complete learning activities to the best of their ability
  • Read regularly at home
  • Take pride in their work
  • Demonstrate our FAITH values in their learning and communication
  • Ask for help when they need it

Expectations for Parents and Carers

We value the important partnership between home and school and ask parents and carers to:

  • Support children in establishing a positive learning routine
  • Encourage engagement with remote learning activities
  • Provide a suitable space for learning where possible
  • Contact school if additional support is required
  • Help children to use online resources safely and responsibly

We understand that every family's circumstances are different and will work closely with parents to provide support whenever needed.

Inclusion and SEND

North Cadbury is committed to ensuring that all pupils can access remote learning. Learning may be adapted to meet individual needs, and additional support will be provided for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where appropriate.

Online Safety

The wellbeing and safety of our pupils remain our highest priority.

We expect all members of our school community to use technology responsibly and respectfully. Pupils should only access school-approved platforms and should speak to a trusted adult if they encounter anything online that causes concern.
