  • Wellbeing Resources

At North Cadbury, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. As a Mental Health in Schools (MHIS) school, we are committed to creating a caring, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive.

We believe that positive mental health is just as important as physical health. Through our Christian values, strong relationships and supportive culture, we help children develop resilience, confidence, self-esteem and the skills they need to manage life's challenges.

Our message to children and families is simple: It's okay not to be okay, and help is always available.

How We Support Wellbeing in School

We promote positive mental health through:

    • A strong culture of kindness, respect and belonging
    • Trusted adults who listen and support
    • Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education
    • Emotional literacy and self-regulation strategies
    • Mental health awareness activities
    • Outdoor learning, physical activity and play
    • Early identification of concerns and timely support
    • Close partnerships with parents, carers and outside agencies

We know that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and supported.

    The Five Ways to Wellbeing

The NHS and public health services promote five simple actions that can support positive mental wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give.

As a school we encourage children to:

    • Connect with friends, family and trusted adults
    • Be Active through sport, play and outdoor learning
    • Take Notice of the world around them and practise mindfulness
    • Keep Learning by embracing new experiences and challenges
    • Give through acts of kindness and service to others

    Wellbeing Tips for Families

    Encourage Conversation

Make time each day to talk about what has gone well and any worries your child may have.

    Keep Active

Regular exercise supports both physical and emotional wellbeing.

    Prioritise Sleep

A consistent bedtime routine helps children regulate emotions and concentrate in school.

    Limit Screen Time

Balance online activities with outdoor play, hobbies and family time.

    Stay Connected

Strong relationships with family, friends and the wider community are protective factors for children's mental health.

    Seek Help Early

If something doesn't feel right, talk to us. Early support often prevents small worries becoming bigger concerns.
