    Welcome to Sprites & Pixies

Sprites & Pixies are taught by Miss Neville, Mrs Watson and Mrs Pett.

    WB:26th January 2026

This week, we have continued learning all about our story of Little Red Riding Hood! The children enjoyed listening to and retelling the story, as well as learning a new song called 'I love Red'. Throughout the week, the children enjoyed a variety of fun and engaging activities, including a What Can You Create? challenge, Roll and Read the tricky words, exploring different ways to make 8 using Numicon and creating colourful name rainbows, which are now proudly displayed on our classroom window. In Hygge, the children also enjoyed learning all about snowdrops by hand painting their own snowdrop pictures and measuring items outside to find things the same size as snowdrops.

We were also very lucky to get outside during a break in the wet weather. The children had great fun building a jungle for the animals using pieces of a Christmas tree and wooden logs and riding on the trikes, making the most of some fresh air. What a fantastic week everyone! 🌟

This week in Pixies and Sprites, we have had a wonderful time exploring our new story, Little Red Riding Hood. The children have really enjoyed listening to the story and confidently retelling it in their own words. Alongside our story work, we have been busy developing lots of key skills through fun, hands-on activities. We have practised writing our phonics sounds in sand, cutting and sticking numbers, threading, and using ten frames to support our maths learning. The children were especially excited to play with our new Happy Land small world characters, make puppets, explore colour mixing, and use pipettes to strengthen fine motor skills. What a fantastic and busy week of learning. Well done everyone! 🌟

This week, we have continued learning all about the Three Billy Goats Gruff! The children loved exploring the story through shared story time and during role play too. Pixies have been busy writing CVC words and learning all about the number 6 using a part-whole model. All the children have enjoyed a range of creative and fine motor activities this week, including making puzzles, cutting and sticking troll pictures, using pipettes with coloured water, creating finger puppet goats as well as painting and decorating paper plate trolls!

    Super work this week everyone!

    WB: 5th January 2026

What a fantastic first week back after the holidays!

We have had a brilliant start to the term as we began our new topic of Traditional Tales. Our focus text is The Three Billy Goats Gruff and the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story through a range of fun and creative activities.

We have made story stick puppets, created messy play rivers using cornflour, practised cutting and sticking, designed paper plate trolls and a list writing challenge linked to the story.

We are so proud of their fantastic start to the Spring Term!

Our learning in Sprites is entirely play-based, often very messy, and always lots of fun.
